Put aside everything you know or think you know and really listen to what Rob says, it ALL matters. I've only just made it a few chapters in and already there were some very specific but very key points of information that I think some may gloss over without realizing it. I thought I understood what I was doing with my vision and audio cues but I did not. I immediately jumped in a session practice session and focused on just the audio cues at first, then the vision. It was late so I only ran a few laps and headed to bed. Today's a new day and after another few laps my mind is blown.
On average my lap times are about 0.6s faster and I have a new personal best by a full second, all because of two small details! My mind is blown, never would I have thought I'd gain that much time that quickly. I've been at what feels like my driving plateau for a while now and this just shined a light on the stairs I needed to keep climbing and I'm so excited to get back into the course and back on track! “I did a coaching session with Rob several months ago, and have been working on the things he brought up since then with decent gains. Recently struggling a bit with LMP2 at LeMans (I had about 20 laps in high downforce cars before trying this combo) and Purple Sectors was exactly what I needed. I had gotten down to a 3:39.4 and hit a bit of a plateau.
After watching the first video on Practice, a simple change in the way I was looking at how I was steering chopped of 3 seconds and I ran a 3:36.4. This one change made several of the things he had me working on from our training session click!

Absolutely not! The only equipment needed to fully benefit from Purple Sectors are a wheel and pedals. I've always said that the best investment is in yourself, not your equipment. Many of the world's fastest sim racers achieved those rankings on entry-level equipment. While shiny equipment can be fun and improve immersion, it's not necessary to build the best driving techniques.
There aren't any prerequisite skills or minimum iRating you need. Purple Sectors teaches the techniques used by the very best drivers, and there are lessons to guide you along every step of your natural progression.
No! While Purple Sectors is centered around iRacing because it's a great training tool, the skills and techniques you'll learn apply to any sim and even real-life racing.
As a real-life racing driver first, I came to sim racing in hopes of improving my skills to achieve better results in my races. The seat time you can get in sim racing is unmatched for the cost. After just one winter of focused practice in the sim, I went on to win my first SCCA National Tour the very next year. I promise that the skills you learn in this course will apply to your driving, too. The sim is the best place to learn and dial in your techniques. Then add in the extra forces in your car, and you'll notice how everything connects!
